Brass Fountains Abbey Door Knocker.
An intricately detailed door knocker of Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire. Fountains Abbey was one of the largest Cistercian monasteries in England. Built in 1132 it was in use until 1539 when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Today it is owned by the National Trust. Unusual detail as the strike plate is in the form of a large tree.
