Antique William Wordsworth Door Knocker

A fantastic door knocker depicting William Wordsworth (1770-1850), one of England’s most famous poets. The top is adorned with Grasmere church in the Lake District where he lived all of his life. One of his most famous works was ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud’ which is commonly known as ‘a host of golden daffodils’
The strike plate is inscribed with part of the poem he penned on the death of his younger brother at sea. Windermere is inscribed at the bottom. Excellent condition.
